At Heartbeat Connections our focus is on giving a second chance to dogs and horses most at risk—canines with behavioral challenges that often lead to repeated returns to shelters or the threat of euthanasia, and equines caught in the slaughter pipeline with little chance at a second life. We take in a limited number of animals at a time to ensure each one receives the individualized rehabilitation and training they need to thrive in safe, loving homes. Shelters are overwhelmed with dogs whose unmet needs have led to misunderstood behaviors, while countless horses are denied the opportunity to adjust to domestic life. Our mission is to interrupt these cycles by offering compassionate, hands-on care that gives every animal we work with the best chance at a new beginning. While we do some feline rescue when we have room, and may expand to help other domestic animals and livestock in the future, currently our efforts are mostly going toward supporting our canine and equine partners.
Our little explorer is always on the move! Indie was born deaf and has suffered some abuse due to humans failing to recognize her abilities. Extremely intelligent, this little girl comes out of her shell a little more each day to show us what an incredible loving and loyal friend she can be. She’ll steal your heart.
Rosebud has lot of love to give! Sharp as a tack and a great hiking companion, though she is happiest when lying at your feet or snuggling up in bed together. As she has endured some physical abuse she might need a little patience at first, but you couldn't find a better bud then Rosebud.
Our out of work sidekick, this kid has a medium-high energy level, a great mind and a lot of heart. She has experienced some neglect in her past so she may need some extra reassurance and consistency at first, but overall would make an incredible companion and co-worker! Please someone give this girl a job!
This chestnut filly was rescued from the slaughter pipeline in 2023 and boy, has she taken the reins on her second chance at life! Through her own curious nature and tireless work of trainer Eric Kraut, she is on her way to becoming one great horse. Charlie hopes to become PATH certified by summer 2026.
This lover boy is true to his name. Twix was rescued from the slaughter pipeline in 2023 and despite his rough start, he choses to show his sweet side. Now halter and lead trained, he hopes to become PATH certified by fall 2027.
Ari was a stray picked up by a shelter in Southern Utah and due to lack of resources she, and others faced euthanasia. We were able to help place the other dogs but Ari stole our hearts! Her calm and gentle demeanor made her a perfect candidate for our therapy program. She is set to graduate fall of 2025!
